§ 02 — Description
The KY-008 laser emitter module is a board with a soldered point laser diode emitting red light (650 nm) and a current-limiting resistor. Simple control: the laser is switched on and off by applying a logic HIGH/LOW level from a digital pin of an Arduino, ESP32 or Raspberry Pi microcontroller. Low power consumption: the current draw is less than 40 mA, so the module can be powered and controlled directly from the GPIO ports of most microcontrollers. Wide range of applications: ideal for building laser alarms and security barriers (together with an LDR photoresistor or photodiode), laser pointers, positioners, optical counters and rangefinders. Features: Model: KY-008 (Laser Emit Module). Emitter type: red laser diode. Wavelength: 650 nm (red spectrum). Output power: ~5 mW (Class 3R / Class IIIa). Operating voltage: 5.0 V DC (operation from 3.3 V to 5 V is permitted). Operating current: < 40 mA. Connection interface: 3-pin (signal S, power, ground -). Beam shape: point spot. Board dimensions: ~15 × 24 mm. Weight: ~2.2 g.
