A powerful triac-based voltage regulator (dimmer) designed for smooth control of alternating current in a 220 V mains supply, with a maximum switched power of up to 4000 W. The device is built on a printed circuit board in an open, housing-free design and is equipped with a large finned aluminium heatsink that effectively dissipates heat from the power semiconductor element. The output voltage is controlled by a convenient rotary potentiometer with a knob.
