§ 02 — Description

A universal planar I2C (IIC) adapter that simplifies and automates connecting HD44780-based character LCD displays (1602, 2004) to Arduino boards and other microcontrollers. Pin savings: Converts the parallel 8-bit/4-bit display control interface into a serial I2C interface, freeing up to 6 digital I/O ports on the microcontroller. Easy setup: The blue multi-turn trimmer resistor on the board lets you quickly adjust character contrast without any external components. Backlight control: The removable LED jumper allows you to turn the display backlight off in software or hardware to save power. Features Port expander chip: PCF8574T / PCF8574AT Supported displays: Character LCD displays LCD 1602 (16×2) and LCD 2004 (20×4) Communication interface: I2C / IIC (uses only 2 signal lines, SDA and SCL) Operating voltage: 5.0 V DC (compatible with 3.3 V logic with pull-up resistors) Default I2C address: 0x27 or 0x3F (configurable with jumpers A0, A1, A2) Contrast adjustment: Built-in blue trimmer potentiometer Backlight control: Jumper (LED jumper) to enable/disable the rear backlight Connector: 4-pin header (GND, VCC, SDA, SCL)
